Hamburg girls cross country fifth at ECICs

The Hamburg girls cross-country team finished fifth among 24 schools represented at the Erie County Interscholastic Conference Championships Oct. 26 at Alden. The Bulldogs were bested by state-ranked East Aurora, Sweet Home, Clarence and Starpoint teams. Hamburg finished the season in second place in ECIC Division II and will run at the Section VI Championships Nov. 1 at Long Point State Park.

Olivia Luthringer, Erin Cuddihy and Morgan Lewis earned all-stat status. Hannah Fredriksen missed by one place. Of the 16 Bulldogs who had run at Alden two weeks earlier, 10 ran faster times, including Cuddhy, Lewis, Fredriksen, Erin Kane, Isabel Luthringer, Leah Covelli, Gabrielle LaRosa, Meaghan Gorman, Liz Bogner, and Allie DeMarco. Also running were Carolyn Connors, Rosemary Herbst, Sam Ruszczyk, Emilee Puccio, Maddy Tucker and Kathleen McGee.
