The Hamburg girls team finished third among the 14 schools which participated in the Hamburg Rodiek Relay track meet on Friday, May 3. The Bulldogs scored in nearly every event to boost them into the top three, finishing behind only first-place Lancaster and small school power Immaculata.
The meet opened with Leah Covelli and Erin Kane taking fourth in the steeplechase in spite of misfortune in the water pit. another fourth came in the Shuttle Hurdles with Sam Ruszczyk, Renee Meinhold, Meghan Gorman and Lauren Cox doing the honors. A fifth place came in the 3200-meter relay with Erin Cuddihy, Gabby LaRosa, Rosemary Herbst and Cookie Meissner doing the honors.
The Bulldogs moved into the medals with Amy Villarini, Lenaya Walter, Brooke Dehlinger and Lexi Kinsman, taking third in the 800-meter relay. Cassie Tabor and Meissner were third in the racewalk. Covelli, LaRosa, Grace Maecker and Kane were fourth in the DMR. Villarini, Ruszczyk,Dehlinger and Walter were third in the 400-meter relay.
Highlights on the track were Villarini, Lexi Kinsman, Ashley Kabsa, and Ruszczyk winning the sprint medley relay. Villarini, Ruszczyl, Kabsa and LaRosa were second in the 1600-meter relay with a 4:11 — one of the best times in Western New York this year. In field events, Meghan Hagerty and Taylor Thurnherr were third in the pole vault. Kabsa and Anna Chiachia were fourth in the high jump. Meinhold and Covelli were sixth in triple jump and Dehlinger and Villarini were third in long jump.

On the boys side
, at the Rodiek Relays at Hamburg, the sprint medley relay took third place. The relay was made up of eighth graders Chris Janak and Jason Jaskolka, and also seniors Tim Dubill and Zach Stumpf. They all ran personal bests and a time of 3:49. Kyle Brown, Will, Reczek, and James Fisk took third in the shot put relay and fourth in the discus relay. The steeplechase relay of Pete Rindfuss and Pat McGowan placed fifth with personal bests from Pete and Pat in the race.
The distance medley relay led by senior Zach Stumpf and also Christian Kostowniak, and brothers Aaron and Jake Wojnicki took fifth with a time of 11:41.4. The boys 4x4 made up of Tom Reimondo, Tim Dubill, Conor Long, and Liam O’Connor finished sixth with a time of 3:47.17 which is also the team’s best time of the year in that event. There were also strong performances from Tom Reimondo, Tom Gorrell, Jason Shuttleworth and Ethan Reimondo in the shuttle hurdles. They just missed placing in the event by a few tenths of a second.
