Lake Shore boys soccer team wins two

The Lake Shore boys soccer team defeated visiting Amherst 2-0 on Sept. 19. The Eagles, whose record now stands at 5-3 overall and 3-2 in league play after consecutive wins, next play on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at Pioneer.

AJ Bergum scored both of the Eagles’ goals, one set up from Wade Bergum on a through ball to goal, and the other set up from Chris Beckley on a head ball flick. Goalkeeper Bryce Parker-Parker and his stout defenders turned away all of Amherst’s opportunities to maintain the clean sheet.

In the game prior, Lake Shore shut out Cheektowaga 5-0 on Sept. 16. Senior Kenny Pierce continued his impressive season by adding two goals for his team-leading fifth score of the season. Senior captain Wade Bergum also scored twice, while AJ Bergum tallied the Eagles’ other goal. Parker-Norton, also a senior captain, earned the shutout in goal.
