Trevor Starkís 31 points led the Hawks, but all eyes were at the foul line with six seconds left in the game. Jordan Kumro gave the Hilbert menís basketball team a 77-76 come-from-behind Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference road win over the weekend to improve to 18 Ė 3 overall and 12 Ė 2 in the conference.
The Hawks continued to hold the best league record, with a sixth straight win, and will battle for the right to host the AMCC Final Four, as the top seed, in two weekends. Stark and Nick Nadeau (19 points) each shot better than 50 percent from the floor, hitting a combined 20 of 34 shots and going 7 for 11 from deep. Jerame Owens added four points late in the game and knotted the score at 77 before Kumro made one for the win.
In the game prior, Hilbert hung on for an 80 Ė 73 road win at Cazenovia College. The Hawks had held a 19-point halftime lead. Owens finished with 25 points and 18 rebounds and recorded his 11th double-double and ninth game with multiple blocks. Stark notched five assists and two steals to go along with his 14 points. C.J. Hodge was perfect from beyond the arc to add 13 points while Jalen Smith came off the bench to shoot 6 of 6 from the charity stripe and chipped in 12 points.
