The Hamburg Lions defeated Lancaster Red 20 – 6 at home on Sept. 28, to improve to 4 – 1 on the season. Touchdowns by Austin Lippert, Jack Novak and Jack Rooney provided the scoring. A defensive stand led by Jack Redmond, Jack DeMeo and Dylan Mack sealed the victory. Andrew Takacs’ blocking and offensive play helped the Lions to the win.
The Lions won 20 – 0 against East Aurora, with two touchdowns from Lippert and another from Brandon Okie. The defensive effort was led by Jack Novak, with six unassisted tackles, DeMeo, Redmond and Rooney. DeMeo also had a sack for a safety and Redmond and DeMeo combined, for six tackles for losses. Novak, Okie, Justin Penn, Mike Sawulak, Owen Impaglia led the Lions on both offense and defense.
The Hamburg junior varsity extended its winning streak to five games, with a 30 – 0 win against Lancaster Red. Dawson Tyger notched a 56-yard TD run on the first play of scrimmage for the Lions and added two more scores. Thomas Celani added another. Two-point plays were converted by Nick Scott, Hunter Imiola and Riley Brennan.
Last week, in a 21 – 0 win against East Aurora, Tyger opened the game with a 45-yard touchdown and added another, along with Austin Calhoun’s. Nick Scott converted a two-point conversion.
