Hamburg Recreation offering adult volleyball
The Town of Hamburg Department of Youth, Recreation and Senior Services has openings for its Adult Volleyball Leagues in two divisions on Monday and Tuesday evenings with play to begin in late October and run into April at the Frontier High School Auxiliary Gym. Monday Night is the Co-Ed Power League, which is for highly-skilled players. Tuesday Night is the Co-Ed Intermediate/Recreational League, which is more for fun. A registration fee will be due; there is a discount for a resident team. There is also a weekly fee for the official. Xtreme U-12 softball is looking for players
The Xtreme 12-and-under fastpitch softball team is looking to add players, who would be expected to participate in year-round practice, including indoor gym time and hitting instruction. Monarchs Soccer to hold dinner fundraiser Oct. 26
The Hamburg Monarchs Soccer Club is hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Oct. 26 from 2-6 p.m. at the Big Tree Fire Hall on South Park Avenue in Blasdell. Dinners will be provided by Olive Garden. There will also be theme baskets and a kidís raffle. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased at First Niagara Bank at 5751 South Park Avenue in Blasdell. Theyíll also be sold at the door. Tickets are half price for children 10-and-under.
Saturday open gyms start Nov. 2 in Hamburg
Saturday Open Gym, a supervised open gym program showcasing a variety of sports, as well as active and passive games, will begin Nov. 2 for students in grades 2-12 at Pinehurst Elementary School at 6050 Fairway Ct. and at the Town of Hamburg Senior Community Center (former Frontier Community Learning Center) at 4540 Southwestern Blvd. It is free of charge. The program runs through March 29, sponsored by the Town of Hamburg. The schedule is as follows: Grades 2-5 meet from 9 to 10:30 a.m.; Grades 6-8, 10:30 a.m. to noon; and Grades 9-and-over, noon to 1:30 p.m. Registration is not required, but those attending must sign in on the days they attend.
