Team Olympus again sweeps Hamburg Recreation hoops titles

The Olympus team beat out competitors to once again take the championships in both the Saturday afternoon and Wednesday evening games in the Town of Hamburg Recreation Fall-Winter Adult Basketball Leagues. For the second consecutive year, the Olympus team captained by Josh Becker took the championship in both the Saturday afternoon and Wednesday evening games in the Town of Hamburg Recreation Departmentís 2012-13 Fall/Winter Adult Basketball Leagues.

Olympus defeated Team Murphy, captained by Sean Murphy, 72-65, to win the Saturday afternoon league. Becker led Olympus with 30 points, while Steve Smith added 23. KaíRon Barnes led Murphy with 17 points. Olympus defeated AXA (Cody Williams, captain), while Murphy beat Dietrick Custom Kitchens (Adam Dietrick, captain) in their respective semifinal games.

Olympus beat Stang Construction, captained by Ryan Stang, to win the Wednesday night league. Becker earned 37 points to lead Olympus to the 94-75 win. Steve Smith racked up 22 points and Rob Genco added 18 points. Jeremy Lindstrom had 18 points to lead Stang Construction. Olympus beat KCCO (Dave Szewczyk, captain) in the semifinals, while Stang Construction defeated Purple Pride (Matt Chapman, captain).

The Adult Basketball Leagues begin in late October and run through March at Frontier High School. Registration for the 2013-14 leagues will begin in August. Registration is now open for the Adult Summer Basketball Leagues with play to begin the week of June 24 through Aug. 5 at the Frontier Community Learning Center. Menís League games are played on Monday and Wednesday evenings and the Adult Womenís League games on Tuesday and Thursday nights. For more information, call the Recreation Department at 646-5145.
