John D’Amico will step in as interim athletics director at Hilbert College.
Hilbert College announced John D’Amico will serve as interim director of athletics while a national search for the college’s permanent replacement for outgoing athletics director, Sue Viscomi, is conducted this summer. D’Amico has been a professor at the college for the past two decades.
“John’s role will be vital to maintaining and guiding the athletics department into and through the summer months,” Hilbert College President Cynthia Zane said.
D’Amico joined Hilbert’s business faculty in 1994 and currently presides as president of the Faculty Senate. He has also served as the faculty advisor to the men’s soccer team and the ski club.
“I have always enjoyed my involvement with the athletics department and this provides me the opportunity to be engaged and immersed in the day-to-day operations,” D’Amico noted.
Viscomi announced last month that she would be leaving at the end of the academic year for the director of athletics post at SUNY Oswego.
The national search and review of applications is ongoing. Interested candidates should visit online at www.hilbert.edu/about-hilbert/human-resources/jobs to view the job description.
