Hamburg with best showing at Alden Invite, defeat Starpoint

The Hamburg girls cross-country team completed the week with its best showing ever at the Alden Invitational and in beating No. 16 state-ranked Starpoint in a dual meet on the road. Both meets were held in good weather conditions.
At Alden, the varsity finished third for its highest showing in a race won by the state’s top-ranked East Aurora. Erin Cuddihy led the way for the varsity, which was missing No. 2 runner Olivia Luthringer. Morgan Lewis was second; Hannah Fredriksen, third; Molly Kabsa, fourth and Isabel Luthringer, fifth. Leah Covelli and Erin Kane completed the varsity effort.
The Bulldogs won the varsity “B” race against East Aurora. The teams tied in points at 30 and the tie was broken by sixth runner, Meghan Gorman. The top five Bulldogs were Carolyn Connors, Rosemary Herbst, Samantha Ruszczyk, Gabrielle LaRosa, and Claire Herrmann. Other Bulldogs competing strongly were Allie DeMarco, Liz Bogner and Emma Sensor.
