O’Shei helps Academy Stars capture national tourney title

Austin O’Shei, one of the captains of the Academy Stars travel baseball team, helped the squad win a national tournament called the “Shamrock Showdown” in South Bend, Ind. The roster is comprised of the top 14-year-olds from around Western New York with two players from Rochester, as well. O’Shei is the team’s starting catcher and leadoff hitter. The Stars just got home from a 12-day road trip out to the midwest where they finished 8-2. Austin’s father, Adam O’Shei, an assistant coach, also went on the road trip. Austin is pictured second from the right in the front row and his father is second from the left in the back row. The head coach of the team is Derek Hill (far right second row), the assistant varsity coach with the Hamburg High School varsity team.
