The Springville-GI junior varsity boys basketball team drops fifth in six games

The two teams, who played a tight game in their last meeting, a Griffins’ 55-51 victory at home, competed down to the wire once again. The result was Springville’s second win against Cheektowaga for the season, as the boys pulled it out by 1 point 48-47.
Adam Wolfley’s 16 points led the way and Ethan Benz added to the offense with 8 points, as he and Wolfley accounted for half of the team’s offensive output. Nate Wolcott added to the team’s success, with his 4 points, 5 steals and 5 assists.
The boys played Depew on Thursday, Feb. 9. Springville looked to avenge a loss at home against this team back on Jan. 10, but the Griffins were defeated by a 73-32 count. The loss was Springville’s fifth in six games.
Wolcott scored 11 points in the loss, getting help from Benz, who had 7. Chuck Foor totaled 11 rebounds to go with 5 points.
Springville completed its road trip against Eden on Monday, Feb. 13. The Griffins opened their season against Eden back on Dec. 6, a 59-21 win. The boys were back at home on Wednesday, Feb. 15, hosting Maryvale, who edged Springville 52-46 on Jan. 12. The JV season will close on Friday, Feb. 17 at home against Pioneer in a game which is scheduled for 5 p.m.
