Hamburg baseball to hold spaghetti dinner
A spaghetti dinner will be held to benefit the Hamburg High School’s baseball program on from 4 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 26 inside the Hamburg High School cafeteria. Advance sale tickets may be purchased from any baseball player and tickets will also be available at the door. Kids younger than 5 may attend free. There will also be a theme auction and sauce contest.
Frontier baseball fundraiser set for March 22
A group of Frontier High School baseball alumni have organized a gathering to raise money for this year’s team spring break trip in April to Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Falcons will be playing four – five games in the Mingo Bay tournament during the Easter break. The money from the party will be donated to the athletic department in the name of baseball, to be used to defray the cost of the varsity/junior varsity baseball Myrtle Beach trip. The party will be held from 7 – 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 22 at the Lake Shore Fire Hall. Beer, pop, wine, pizza, wings and snacks will be served. A 50/50 drawing, Booze Basket and a theme auction will also be available. Tickets will be available at the door and can also be purchased prior to the event. This is not a school-sponsored event. Hilbert summer basketball camp dates announced
Hilbert College has announced dates for its summer basketball camps for boys and girls. Now in its 35th year and still one of the only overnight basketball camps in Western New York, the boys camp weeks are June 29 – July 3 and July 13 – 17. The lone girls week is July 6 – 10. Registration/check-in is on Sunday(s) between 2:30 and 4 p.m. and each camp concludes at 3 p.m. on Thursday(s). Campers will be given the choice of staying on campus (resident camper) in air-conditioned Trinity Hall, or commuting (day camper). Day camp runs from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. weekly. Register prior to June 1 and receive a discount to the camper fee. Groups of six or more will receive an additional discount. All campers will receive a personal evaluation, reversible jersey and camp water bottle, along with individual instruction. Hamburg 11-U baseball team needs a few players
Phoenix Inferno, an independent 11-and-under baseball team is looking for a couple of players to fill the team’s roster. If you’re looking for something a bit more competitive than house baseball for your child, contact the Inferno. The team practices in an indoor facility, many of the families are from the Hamburg area and the team plays in the Southowns Travel League and take part in 3 – 4 tournaments per year. Kyle Reid Challenger League conducting registration
The Hamburg Junior Baseball League’s Kyle Reid Memorial Challenger League is holding registration for its 15th season. The league is open to children and young adults ages 6-21 that have a physical or mental challenge. Game are played Wednesday evenings from late May through early August at the Hamburg High School fields. Other events that are held for players and their families include a post-season pool party, dance, bowling and Halloween and Christmas parties. There is a small fee for registration. The league is also looking for volunteers to serve as “buddies” to assist the players with hitting, fielding, running the bases and encouraging them to do their best while having fun. Hilbert 3-on-3 tourney April 5 to benefit veterans
The Hafner Recreation Center at Hilbert College will host a 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament on Saturday, April 5, with proceeds to benefit the Western New York Heroes, which supports local veterans and their families.The event is being hosted by students Barry Mason, Connor Kirst, Jordan Kumro, Nehemiah Kornegay and Trevor Stark, from the sports events management course, taught by professor Dan Roland, at Hilbert College. Teams will be comprised of a minimum of three players and a maximum of four (for substitutions). This event is open to males and females ages 18-and-older, and divisions will be determined based on registrations. The deadline to register is April 1. There is an entry fee. In addition, snacks and beverages will be available for purchase and there will be a Chinese Auction and 50-50. The admission fee for spectators is a monetary donation of the spectator’s choosing.
