HAMBURG — Hamburg senior Kendra Quinn-Moultrie was named one of four most valuable players, during the 16th annual Cheektowaga Lions Club Exceptional Senior High School Ladies Basketball Classic on March 22 at Cheektowaga High School.
Quinn-Moutlrie scored a team-high 22 points for the Lions in a 87 – 68 loss to the Knights, in one of two all-star games played that day.
Because Quinn-Moutlrie won the MVP Award, a student at Hamburg will be the recipient of a scholarship in her name.
Each year, the Cheektowaga Lions Club, along with the Fr. Justin Council Knights, awards scholarships to students who meet academic and other criteria identifying them among the best students and leaders in their respective schools. This year, $2,800 in scholarships will be awarded from the classic.
Quinn-Moultrie is a three-year varsity starter for Hamburg and was on two sectional finalists teams. She was the Bulldogs’ leading scorer the past two seasons and will continue her basketball career playing at Hobart.
The last Hamburg winner of the Most Valuable Player Award at the classic was Noelle Miller, in 2009.
