Hawks make move into tie for first in AMCC

Five Hawks hit double-digit scoring numbers, propelling the Hilbert College men’s basketball team to an 88-68 win over visiting Franciscan University on Jan. 26. The Hawks moved into a first place tie in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, advancing to 14-3 (9-2 AMCC).
The Hawks were led by Trevor Stark’s 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Jalen Smith finished the afternoon with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while Nick Nadeau added another 14 points, including going 2-for-2 on 3-pointers and 6-of-6 from the foul line. Sean Weisansal chipped in 10 points and 4 blocks. CJ Hodge added 10 points, 7 assists and 6 steals.
In the game prior, a 107-85 AMCC victory over D’Youville College, Stark led the Hawks with 21 points, 7 assists and 5 steals. Jordan Kurmro was perfect from the floor, in scoring 12 points. Nadeau chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Jerame Owens added 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals, while CJ Hodge finished with 6 assists, 5 steals and 4 points. Hilbert looked to avenge an earlier-season 82-73 loss to Medaille when the two met on Jan. 29.
